The KU/Kindle Difference
Projected Release Schedule
Important KU Info...
I wanted to give you a heads-up about a significant shift I’m making with new releases, so it doesn’t feel confusing or out of the blue later.
Starting now, I’ll be following a consistent release flow I’m calling my 90/90/90 rule. Once you see it laid out, it’s simple.
Here’s how each book will roll out:
• 90 days on preorder at retailers (Amazon, Apple, BN, Kobo, GP)
• 90 days available wide (all retailers)
• 90 days in Kindle Unlimited — one-time only window
After the KU window ends, the book reverts to wide distribution permanently and won’t return to Kindle Unlimited.
Current preorder exceptions: The Traveler and The Siren were listed under my previous preorder approach and are available to reserve now. All future releases will follow the 90/90/90 schedule outlined above.
Extra perk for my shop & Substack supporters:
Those who buy directly from my shop will always get the book two weeks earlier than anywhere else. Shop preorders will stay open for a minimum of 6 months, and if you preorder there, you’ll receive the book as soon as early access opens. Paid Substack subscribers will always get the new ebook early AND free.
Why am I changing things up?
Two reasons...
First, I want to ensure a book is well underway before it goes up for preorder, so release dates stay solid and expectations stay clear. Although you’ve been extremely understanding of delays, I still feel horrible when I have to push a release to a later date. By ensuring the book is 3/4 finished before putting it up for preorder, I hope to stay on schedule. But this will require you to be more diligent about opening my emails and following my social media posts to stay on top of information.
Second, this new approach lets me offer Kindle Unlimited access without locking my books into long-term exclusivity, while still keeping them available everywhere afterward.
Depending on how you read:
If you read wide, there will always be that limited KU-only window 90 days after release. Every title will return to wide availability permanently once that time is over.
Example:
The Wanton Witchmas release date was December 29, 2025.
The ebook will be available on all retailers until March 29, 2026.
The exclusive KU window then becomes March 30-June 30, 2026.
Once the window closes, Wanton Witchmas will be wide forever as of July 1, 2026.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you read through the library system, this does not apply to you. Amazon has allowed authors to bypass the exclusivity clause and keep their books in libraries.
So if you read in KU, there will be that clearly defined time frame with no guessing or surprise removals. I’ll always share dates in advance so you can mark your calendars and add the book to the top of your TBR pile.
Below, you can find the projected dates for this year’s releases.
Thank you for reading my stories in the way that works best for you. I appreciate you more than I can fit in one email.
Paperback readers: all physical formats should be available on or around the retailer’s projected release day.
The Kindle Unlimited/Kindle Device Difference...
Many people ask me if they can still get the book on their Kindle after it leaves KU. The answer is always YES.
Let me break it down for anyone who’s confused.
The Kindle Unlimited (KU) program works like a paid library subscription. You pay a monthly fee, and while an author’s book is in the KU program, you can borrow it under the umbrella of your subscription.
When an author removes a book from the KU program, it doesn’t disappear from Amazon. It simply means the ebook is no longer included with your subscription.
You can still purchase the book via its product page and read it on your Kindle device or app, exactly as you always have. It doesn’t leave Amazon, but it’s no longer part of their subscription service.
Amazon requires authors participating in the program to be exclusive to its site, meaning they can only sell their books on that platform during the 90-day contract.
A Kindle is merely a device. Some are plain ereaders, while others are tablets with app capabilities. Each device has a unique email allowing books to be sent there and uploaded to the device.
Once you know that, the rest is simple.
Books purchased from Amazon deliver automatically to your Kindle.
Books purchased elsewhere—including directly from an author’s shop—can be sent to the Kindle using that email address or Amazon’s “Send to Kindle” feature. Once uploaded, they read exactly like any other Kindle book.
The Kindle is the device. Kindle Unlimited is only one way a book gets there.

*Lucifer is at the 50% finished stage. I hope to release this book within the next two months, but there is no set date. When it reaches the 75% stage, I will email you all with permanent dates.
And if there is no way to tempt you...
I’ve given away over 30,000 ebooks this year, not counting piracy. I won’t go into the last part of that statement, other than to say anyone participating in this practice is contributing to the death of their favorite authors’ careers.
The sheer number of free books is absolutely astonishing, no?
As an email subscriber of mine, you’ve been the recipient of everything I’ve offered. Hopefully, you’ve read all of them by now and have gone on to finish each series. But maybe you’ve only added them to your TBR list, intending to read them at a later date. Fingers crossed! 🤞
However, the much sadder truth is that most people collect freebies and forget to read them.
This is my CALL TO ACTION, dear reader! 📚🔥 Pause or get rid of the boring things not holding your interest, and move mine higher on the list. You’ll be glad you did!
However, if you haven’t read my stories or don’t care for my writing style, and if there really is no way to tempt you to pick up another of my books to read, then I can’t see you hanging around, can you?
Of course, I’ll be sorry to see you go. And if you ever change your mind, feel free to return. 😊
Oh, and FYI: Summer Magic is free via all retailers in case you wish to try the first book in my most popular series, The Thorne Witches. Yes, I’m ever the optimist.
Wishing you all the best,
T.M.

This is the clearest explanation I’ve seen about how KU works. Thanks!
